A spectacular show opens the EHF EURO 2022
One hour before the opening match of the Hungarian-Slovakian co-hosted EHF EURO 2022 in Budapest, the official opening ceremony of the tournament starts at 7:30pm in the MVM Dome, on 13 January. During the special effents and spectacular elements programme, Csaba Vastag will sing the official song of the EHF EURO 2022. Handball friends can meet hours before the evening programme in the Fan Zone, which will be open throughout the match days. The opening game (Hungary vs. Netherlands) starts at 8:30pm.
How will the handball players’ finely honed senses react in a fiercely competitive environment? What really decides the survival, the winner and the loser in life and on the court?
These are the questions that will be answered in the show that will be staged in the opening ceremony of the EHF EURO 2022, based on a special artistic concept. Starting at 7:30pm on 13 January, will entertain the MVM Dome audience with special effects and spectacular audiovisual elements.

As part of the opening cerenomy, Csaba Vastag sings the official EHF EURO 2022 song „Fight”, composed by Magdi Rúzsa and Krisztián Szakos. (Magdi Rúzsa debuted with the song in November 2021, the singer is about to give birth and will therefore not be able to attend the opening ceremony in person.)
„It is a great honour to be able to perform at the opening ceremonies of the EHF EURO 2022, I am grateful to the organizers for the invitation," said Csaba Vastag. – I will perform the song as part of a major concert show which will be watched by 400 million people worldwide vian online and television broadcasts. Without exaggeration, I can say that the audience will experience a spectacle and a quality that they may have never seen before.”
The quality is guaranteed even after the opening ceremony, as the host Hungarian national team, who finished 5th place at the World Championship, will start its participation in the EHF EURO 2022 against the Netherlands, who have been performing remarkably well recently. The 8:30pm kick-off will be the first official game in the 20,022-seat MVM Dome. The interest is huge, and it is already clear that the opening match in Budapest will be played to a full house.
The good news is that handball fans will be able to tune in to the evening programme hours before the opening ceremony, as the official Fan Zone will open next to the MVM Dome from 4:30pm.
The Fan Zone will be open every gameday in Budapest, and you can watch the match or a summary on a projector until 11:30pm, and try out the Watch Games. See more’s special theme park to test your handball skills, a unique commentator stand and a multiball wall, as well as a catering service and quiz games await the visitors. Access tot he supporters’ zone is only available with a valid Budapest ticket or bundle.
