The medals of the Hungarian-Slovakian co-hosted European Championship, which starts on 13 January, were made in Kremnica, Slovakia. The fourth place finishers will also receive a commemorative medal on January 30, 2022 in Budapest, the closing day of the tournament.
The co-organizing Slovak side presented the official medal collection of the tournament. The collection has four pieces, as in addition to the gold, silver and bronze medals, the members of the fourth-place national team will also receive a commemorative medal, so they will not go home empty-handed either.
The 400-gram coins have a diameter of 9 centimeters, each made of an alloy of copper and zinc, in a special location in the world’s oldest mint with a history of almost 700 years, in Kremnica.
"We have had several interesting bids for the design tender and we are really glad about the final pick as it contains the handball as its main element and a clear symbol of this game. We also believe that the medals will always remind the awarded players the day when they won them and that also the public will like them. Through its size and the weight, each medal creates a majestic and dominant impression.", ”said Petar Packan, a designer at Packy Advertising, the promotional agency that made the medals.
The European Championship will start on January 13, 2022 in the five cities of Hungary and Slovakia, Budapest, Szeged, Debrecen, Bratislava and Košice.
