With its good second half game, the Hungarian national team preparing for the EHF EURO 2022 won the only preparation match against Bahrain. In five days, the opening match against the Netherlands will arrive.
There were some shortcomings in the defense of the Hungarian team in the first half against Bahrain. On the other hand host team of the EHF EURO 2022, playing without one of its best players, Bence Bánhidi performed much more after the break.
The result of it was a strong victory, led by the strong Dominik Máthé, Egon Hanusz, Petar Topic, Miklós Rosta quartet and goealkeeper Márton Székely.
Summary of head coach István Gulyás:
“We lost a lot of balls, we weren’t sharp enough, we didn’t have the pace. After the break we were more focused, the boys were fresh in their heads as well. In the time remaining until the EHF EURO 2022, everyone must be kept on fire, as all our players are important. ”
The 7-goal Máthé Dominik was also satisfied with the second half:
“In the beginning we fell asleep, it was hard to attack 3 out of 3, our defense didn’t come together either. In the second half, we showed what this Hungarian national team is like. ”
Egon Hanusz rated the match as:
“The EHF EURO will be very important for all of us, so during the break we discussed that we just need to develop our attitude. We did it, we played with a bigger fire in the second half. Everyone is very much looking forward to the EHF EURO 2022, and a little bit of excitement is coming slowly, as an experience of a lifetime awaits us. ”
The Hungarian national team will start its participation in the EHF EURO 2022, against the Netherlands on January 13, at 20:30 at the MVM Dome.
