Matyi makes no secret of the fact that it is over a tough season, everyone is taking their last strengths, but the road to the European Championship is also coming up.
"Obviously I usually think about it, but the European Championship still seems very far away. Of course, I can't wait to start the direct preparation, as it's always an honor to be in the national team. No one, including me, has yet been given the opportunity to compete in a European Championship at home, which is why we are all looking forward to this opportunity, ”said
Mátyás Győri.
“This European Championship is also a huge opportunity for Debrecen, the people in this city are very sports-friendly, there is a lot of interest in team sports. A lot of people will be visiting the European Championship, I’m sure of that. I am glad that the Hungarian national team is getting better, more and more familiar and constantly evolving, so the whole European Championship can be a great experience for handball players, ”added Petra Tóvízi, player of the local team, DVSC and the Hungarian women national team preparing for the Tokyo Olympics.
According to
László Papp, Mayor of Debrecen, the Főnix Hall will be a worthy home for the European Championship:
“Debrecen is already a routine host of world handball competitions: in 2004 and 2014, the Főnix Hall hosted the women's European Championships, and in 2018 the women's junior world championship. The facility is now being reborn and will serve the needs of fans and athletes in the next decade to meet the needs of the 21st century. We look forward to the arrival of world-class athletes and up to 6,500 spectators per match. ”
